SMILE APP: FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
1. What is the SMILE App?
Answer: SMILE stands for Smart Attendance Management and Informative Leaves. It is a user-friendly app that enables the employees of the Department of School Education to mark their attendance by simply blinking their eyes and capturing a quick selfie. The app is designed to streamline attendance tracking and leave management.
2. I do not have a smart mobile phone/my device is broken. How can I mark my attendance?
Answer: Approach the Principal or School Head and request assistance in using their phone to mark your attendance on the SMILE Kiosk App.
3. My device cannot fetch the location.
Answer: Please ensure that permission for location is enabled for the phone as well as the SMILE App.
4. Can I get the SMILE App APK link?
Answer: Yes, you can download it using the link below

5. Forgot Email & Password.
Answer: Please try the following steps:
Enter registered email or your phone number provided during the time of physical
Authentication.
Try the common password “Password@123”
6. What to do in case of transfer from School/Establishment?
Answer: Please click a photo of your “Transfer Order” and send it to the WhatsApp number 6909644519.
7. Is it compulsory to mark my attendance every day?
Answer: Yes. All employees registered on the SMILE App have to regularly Check-in in the morning and Check-out at the end of the day on all working days. This practice will help ensure a smooth transition when the SMILE App is fully implemented after the pilot phase, preventing any potential difficulties.
8. Is it possible to mark attendance without an internet connection?
Answer: Yes, the SMILE App allows you to mark attendance even in offline mode. Here’s how it works:
Internet and Wi-Fi Settings: When there is no network connection, turn OFF the internet and Wi-Fi options on your device. This ensures that the SMILE App operates in offline mode as intended. Then click on the app and mark your attendance as you normally would.
Automatic Update: Once your mobile device regains an internet connection, the SMILE App will automatically sync and update the attendance records.
Offline Check-In and Check-Out: You can perform both Check-In and Check-Out actions without an internet connection. The SMILE App is designed to record your attendance locally on your device, ensuring that your actions are captured even when your device is offline.
Location Setting: To facilitate offline attendance marking, it’s crucial to have the ‘Location’ option enabled at all times so that the system can accurately capture your location data.
9. Is it possible to change my phone number and email?
Answer: Yes, changing your phone number and email can be done, but typically for valid and genuine reasons. You may ‘Raise a Ticket’ in the App or reach out to us at our helpline number 6909644519.

CHECKLIST OF SMILE APP FOR THE PILOT PHASE
1. Check-in time: Latest by 9:00 AM- For Schools
Latest by 10:00 AM – For Establishments
2. Check-out time: Latest by 1:00 PM- For Schools
Latest by 4:00 PM- For Establishments
3. Attendance marked any time after 9:00 am & 10:00 am is flagged as “late check in” and any time before 1:00 pm & 4:00 pm is flagged as “early check out”. The accessibility of the APP will be open from 8:00 am- 5:00 pm considering overtime for some of the employees.
4. Check-out: In case an employee forgets to check-out after check-in, his/her attendance will be marked as “Partial presence” for that particular day.
5. Working days for all employees will be kept as Monday to Friday for the Pilot phase.
6. Head of Establishment/School will be designated as the “Regularisation Supervisor” for leaves and attendance during the pilot phase.
7. Latest Version of the SMILE App to be downloaded or updated. App will be made available in the Android and iOS App store shortly. Employees may kindly delete the already installed APK before downloading the App.
8. Allow camera and location permissions while installing the SMILE App.
9. In case of network/location issues, mark your attendance from the KIOSK app wherever it is installed.
10. Make sure the App fetches the location before marking your attendance (check-in & check- out).
11. Once the location is fetched, please make sure the location icon is in green colour.
12. Make sure to have allowed the Location permissions on your device to “Always turned on”. Will also be sharing user manuals/videos for further guidance.
13. Background should be clean (no photographs or people at the background).
14. Lighting should be from the front and not from back (no windows or bright lights from behind).
15. Make sure to be stable while facing the camera, as blurry images will not be accepted.
16. Remove your masks and caps, if you are wearing one.
17. Please maintain a straight posture and position the camera parallel to your face.
18. No videos or pictures to be used as attendance logs are being monitored daily.
19. Try to make sure that there are no reflections if you are wearing spectacles.
