About NECTAR

With support from the World Bank, the Department of School Education launched the ‘Nagaland Education Project- The Lighthouse – Nagaland Enhancing Classroom Teaching and Resources (NECTAR), with an aim to improve and enhance quality and learning outcomes of Government schools in Nagaland.

The NECTAR Project aims to fulfill the two main objectives of:
(a) Enhance the governance of schools across the State, and
(b) Improve teaching practices and learning environments in selected school complexes.

The project envisages to establish the Lighthouse School Complexes (LSC) across the sixteen districts in the State, which will be centers of excellence with self-sufficient and sustainable model that provide state of the art facilities, best teaching and learning practices, resource sharing, and communities of practice among teachers and education leaders.

Nagaland Education Project- The Lighthouse (NECTAR) aims to address various issues concerning School Education in the state. The Project will focus on sectors such as EMIS, Teacher attendance, capacity building of teachers and communitive bodies, setting up Lighthouse School Complexes in various locations which will act as the model school hubs in the state, and Performance Incentive Grants (PIG) to school Management Committees being some of them.
