The NECTAR Project aims to fulfill the two main objectives of: (a) Enhance the governance of schools
across the State, and (b) Improve teaching practices and learning environments in selected school
complexes.
The project envisages to establish the Lighthouse School Complexes (LSC) across the sixteen districts in
the State, which will be centers of excellence with self-sufficient and sustainable model that provide state
of the art facilities, best teaching and learning practices, resource sharing, and communities of practice
among teachers and education leaders. The LSCs will operate in a hub and spoke model which will impact
the smaller spoke schools in the complex which had been operating in silos previously and associate them
with hub schools which will be either secondary or higher secondary schools. It also lays emphasis on
reaching out to the Socio-Economically Disadvantaged Groups (SEDGs) and provide learning spaces with
adequate resources for children with special needs.
