A Beacon of Stewardship

Aito Aye

Graduate Teacher, Mathematics

GMS Aizuto, Zunheboto

Since his posting to GMS Aizuto in Zunheboto in 2013, Aito Aye has emerged as a model of commitment, not only in the school, but also in the broader community. His vigour and contributions to the school have prompted four colleagues to nominate him to be spotlighted, underscoring his extensive influence at the school.

From the moment Aito arrives each morning, he sets the tone. Always punctual, he is the first to reach school and personally oversees the students responsible for setting up classrooms, ensuring each day begins in an atmosphere of structure and readiness. Beyond voluntarily managing the morning activities, he brings life to the school ground with a hands-on approach. Whether purchasing saplings from the market or obtaining them from friends and neighbours, he rallies his students to plant them around campus. Under his guidance, they lovingly care for the plants, regularly watering and weeding, sustaining both greenery and gardening spirit.

Aito’s environmental initiatives don’t end with planting. He organises school-wide cleaning drives, and in an inspiring example of eco-conscious creativity, he crafted paper bags from waste paper at home to collect and dispose of litter. With these small but powerful gestures, he inspires active student participation in outdoor projects.

Academically, Aito quietly transforms lives. Noticing struggling students, he offers free tutoring sessions to any student at their homes regardless of assignment or grade. This generosity has noticeably lifted both student performance and confidence.

Perceiving the need for a school anthem that represents the school’s history and aspirations, he sought to address it. Over a summer break, he took it upon himself to compose one that unites all stakeholders, including members of the School Management Committee (SMC), to ensure it reflects the collective voice of the community. When introduced, it was met with unanimous appreciation.

Beyond school grounds, Aito’s commitment extends into the community. Until recently, he served faithfully as Clerk of the Centre Baptist Church under Aizuto Mission Centre for three years. He frequently contributes to local social initiatives, noting that his involvement there has enriched his own understanding and connection to the community he serves.

In every aspect—tending gardens, nurturing young minds, building school spirit, and steadfast community engagement—Aito personifies what it means to be an educator and steward. He is a connector, a mentor, and an upholder of community values. His selfless service has shaped GMS Aizuto and inspired its community to grow together.
