COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION UNDER PERFORMANCE INCENTIVE GRANTS (PIG)

During an School Management Committee (SMC) meeting, the challenges faced by GPS Sirhi
Angami, Chümoukedima due to lack of water supply and a storage facility were discussed. The
issue was also conveyed to the larger community during a Parent-Teacher Meeting.
Despite the challenges, they collectively built a water tank under the supervision of a teacher
and SMC members and resolved the crisis. Further, they also agreed on maintaining a strong
relationship, and members are actively engaged in helping the school, showcasing the strong
bond between the school and the community.

With the objective of engaging the community and celebrating the progress of the school, GPS
Shitilong in Mokokchung District organised a “Summer Fest”. Students performed recitals and
exhortations were delivered by elders. The school invited community members, including the
village council, parents, SMC, student bodies and the church leaders.

With support from Performance Incentive Grant, the School Management Committee members
and church leaders led by deacons from the Baptist and Revival denominations took the initiative
to install a new fencing and school gate at GMS Tethuyo under Kiphire district. The entire
enterprise was made possible through their contribution of free labour.
